On this day (February 10) in 2010, West Ham overcame Birmingham City 2-0 at the Boleyn Ground.
The Hammers took the lead shortly before half-time when Italian midfielder Allessandro Diamanti netted a sublime free-kick from long range.
Irons’ favourite Carlton Cole doubled the hosts’ advantage after the break as Gianfranco Zola’s side picked up a much needed three points.

West Ham finished the 2009/10 campaign in 17th position – five points clear of the drop.
Diamanti was a popular figure during a brief spell as a Hammer. Scoring eight times and providing another six assists in just 30 appearances for the club.
Still playing aged 38, the 17-cap Italy international currently plies his trade for Western United in the Australian A-League.

Nights like those.
Whilst many Hammers will rightly look upon these days with fond memories – in particular, due to the location – this current side far supersedes most previous incarnations.
No doubt David Moyes would find room for a prime Diamanti if it was at all possible.
