Kevin Campbell ‘wowed’ by Declan Rice display against Everton

Former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell was left thoroughly impressed by West Ham star Declan Rice against Everton.

The 22-year-old was at his dominant best against the Toffees as the Hammers overcame their hosts 1-0 at Goodison Park.

Amidst links with a move to Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea, Rice continues to provide all-conquering displays.

Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell was full of praise for the Iron but feared the potential impact of a transfer.

I watched him very closely on Sunday and wow, he is very good. When you take into consideration his age as well, it’s remarkable. I said Man United should have gone and got him in the summer. I think they’re regretting that now. If he goes to City, they’re going to start to dominate again, I’m telling you. I was mightily impressed with him against Everton. He’s a very good player and he’s only going to get better.

In the victory over Everton, Rice provided two key passes, two clearances and two interceptions in a 7.10 rated performance (Sofascore).

This season the combative midfielder has been adding goal threat to a superb all-around game – scoring twice and providing two assists in 11 appearances.

There can be few detractors that would dare suggest Rice wouldn’t improve every side in the Premier League right now.

Young, English, and most importantly a consistent performer at the elite level, the £63million valued ace is perhaps the first name on David Moyes’ teamsheet week in week out.

As West Ham look set to cruise through their Europa League group, Hammers’ fans can be hopeful of going deep into the competition and perhaps even earning Champions League qualification at the end – thus making keeping Rice a far simpler task.
