Former Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has claimed ‘something’s not right’ with West Ham striker Michail Antonio.
This comes after it was reported that club doctor Richard Collinge travelled away with the 31-year-old on international duty in September.
Having suffered badly with injuries in recent seasons, particularly in those troublesome hamstrings, Collinge was sent to closely monitor the ace whilst representing Jamaica.
Speaking to Football Insider, Kenny believes that the Hammers must have extra cause for concern to be taking such measures.
If he is struggling at all, he shouldn’t be going away. He should be staying in London until he is fully, 100 per cent fit. The last thing you need is to go on international duty and make your hamstring worse. By sending the doctor with him, they have shown have much they value him. But if he’s that valuable, surely he needs to stay here and rest up. Travelling here, there and everywhere and then training and playing international matches is strange if he wants to stay fit. The fact that they’ve gone to those measures tells me there’s something not quite right.
Last season Antonio missed 13 games through injury and subsequent fitness concerns.
Yet to miss a fixture this term, the talismanic frontman has been in inspired form whilst scoring six and assisting four goals in nine appearances.

Given Antonio’s track record of picking up injuries, it’s simply due diligence to take extra care of such an important part of David Moyes’ plans.
Albeit perhaps the Irons shouldn’t be so heavily reliant on the new Jamaica international, taking extra precautions to ensure the £10.80million valued star’s continued fitness is a smart move.
