Selling Silva to the current Championship basement club would be a major result for the Irons at the end of a productive window.
Unlikely to feature in David Moyes’ plans at any stage of the season, the club would surely jump at any chance to free up a wage from the books.
Whatever happens, it looks as though the deal to bring Silva to the London Stadium will be another in a long line of poor pieces of business.
