Former Premier League striker Dean Windass has urged West Ham to make a summer transfer swoop for Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley.
This comes after a report from The Telegraph claimed the Hammers could be among the contenders to sign the England international after a loan spell at Aston Villa last term.
The 27-year-old has fallen way down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and could be set to spend a second consecutive season away from the club.
Speaking to Football FanCast, Hull City legend Windass has pleaded with the Irons to make a move should Jesse Lingard be a no-go.
Now Moyes has stayed, that could entice him. He would be a great fit for West Ham now Jesse Lingard’s probably not going to return – Ross is a number 10 in my opinion, so I think that would be a great fit for West Ham.
The initial report claims West Ham could be a viable option for the ex-Everton man to complete another loan move.
During 2020/21 at Villa Park, the attacking midfielder, who was once heralded as ‘first class’ by Frank Lampard, Barkley scored four goals and made one assist in 27 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £18million and capped on 33 occasions by England (Transfermarkt), the Liverpudlian certainly possess the qualities to succeed at the London Stadium.
Having already revitalised one outcast international star in Lingard, perhaps Barkley could be the next in line.
An explosive operator from central midfield, signing the star would provide much-needed cover as well as a different option to Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and Mark Noble.
