West Ham were dealt a damaging blow to their top-four hopes on Sunday as the Hammers failed to complete the Premier League double over Everton.
Visiting striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the only goal of the game in the first half at the London Stadium as David Moyes‘ side tried in vain to create a telling chance.
One of the better opportunities fell to Vladimir Coufal as the 13-cap Czech full-back struck the post from inside the area.
At the final whistle and having failed to break down a well-drilled Everton side, West Ham reporter for The Athletic, Roshane Thomas, spotted Coufal’s show of frustration as he left the field.

That miss aside, Coufal was typically on-song for the Irons – earning a Sofascore rating of 6.80.
Perhaps the most glaring miss of all came from Said Benrahma, the Algerian contriving to head over the bar from point black range towards the end of the first half.

Benrahma’s chance would’ve levelled matters in an ideal world and Coufal nets the winner with his opportunity in the second half.
As it is though the Irons must pick themselves up to go again to end what has been a superb season on a high – regardless of where West Ham finish.
Coufal cutting a frustrating figure and impassioned manner after a painful loss is just another sign of the winning mentality Moyes has instilled into this group of players.
