Many West Ham fans have been replying to a post on Twitter from Angelo Ogbonna as he reflected on Monday night’s defeat at Chelsea.
The Hammers were well in the contest until two quickfire Tammy Abraham strikes in the final 15 minutes rounded off a 3-0 win for the Blues. The result left David Moyes’ side in 10th position at Christmas after they had hoped to fire their way back into the top six with a victory at Stamford Bridge.
Nevertheless, the opening weeks of the 2020/21 campaign have been largely positive, and the Irons faithful can be confident going into the festive fixtures and the turn of the year.
The 32-year-old centre-half has been among the best players to pull on the famous claret and blue this season, enjoying a new lease of life at the heart of a defensive back three for much of the campaign. He maintained his record of starting every league game in 2020/21 on Monday night.
After the match, he sent out a defiant message on Twitter, saying: “Not a bad performance overall. They take the points. We keep going Irons.”
That call went down very well with these West Ham supporters on the social media platform:
