Former Premier League striker and now-pundit Peter Crouch has praised the performances of West Ham whilst reserving special acclaim for four players in particular.
Answering questions from the public in the Daily Mail, Crouch was asked whether he believed the Hammers could qualify for Europe this term. The towering ex-England striker believes the Irons are right to dream, saying: ”I have watched West Ham a good few times this season — like when they dismantled Leicester — and the more I see, the more I like. It really is time for David Moyes to be given some appreciation for the work he has done.”
The first name on the 39-year-old’s lips was that of Declan Rice, with Crouch describing him as ‘one of the best holding midfielders in Europe’. He also found time to praise October signing Said Benrahma, comparing the ‘maverick’ winger to former Irons playmaker Dmitri Payet.
Crouch also praised two of the more established members of the London Stadium setup as he added: “Aaron Cresswell is coming on in leaps and bounds, Michail Antonio has been a revelation. They look more credible for Europe now than Wolves, who are always talked up.”

With West Ham flying high in the top six of the Premier League, Crouch has pinpointed only a handful of the standout performers so far this season and didn’t even mention Angelo Obgonna, who was nominated for November’s Premier League Player of the Month prize.
Whether or not Irons fans are allowing themselves to dream of a European adventure next season, many will merely be thankful the dreaded relegation battle may not be on the cards this time around.
