A record of 16 goals and 12 assists this season sounds as though it is a formidable record from a promising striker, so it should not be surprising that West Ham, Everton and Tottenham are reportedly interested in such a player.
When you find out that record is boasted by a 29-year-old defender, the record becomes jaw-droppingly stunning.
It is for this reason that there is much cause for excitement after the Daily Mail reported that English right-back James Tavernier, who currently plies his trade with Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers, is attracting interest from a host of clubs in his homeland.
Crystal Palace and Newcastle are also reportedly interested in the prolific defender, with the race for Tavernier seemingly involving several candidates.
Indeed, the Daily Mail added that there is much surprise that the offensively-minded right-back has not yet attracted significant interest from Premier League clubs. Previous offers are said to have been ‘scarce’ or flat-out rejected by the Glasgow giants.

Given David Moyes’ adoption of a fluid back five formation, Tavernier’s offensive acumen could suit the Hammers perfectly.
Being deployed in a freer fluid offensive role would enable the wing-back to make overlapping offensive runs and exhibit the attacking prowess which has caught the attention of headline-writers.
He could provide an immense boost to the Hammers as they look to boost their goal threat, and he could even serve as a long-term replacement to Ryan Fredericks, who is out of contract in 2022 and has this week been touted for a possible exit from the London Stadium.
