West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has been an integral part of the setup at London Stadium since his arrival from Swansea in 2018.
His importance was perhaps never more evident than when the Polish stopper was missing for a period last season and the Hammers were left scrambling around for an adequate solution.
However, now that he is injury-free, Fabianski has helped David Moyes’ side to an impressive start to the 2020/21 campaign and the 35-year-old is joint-second in the Premier League’s clean sheet ranks this season. That is despite the lack of supporters in stadia, something the giant Pole can’t wait to see changing.
The London Stadium will welcome back 2,000 home fans for the game against Manchester United on Saturday, and Fabianksi told the club’s official website of his delight at the return of fans to West Ham’s home ground.
He said: “I think that would be amazing and I am really looking forward to that, I think everyone has been looking forward to that and it will be great to see fans coming back to the games.”
The 35-year-old, who previously played for Arsenal and Swansea, also commended the Irons’ impressive start to the season, saying: “We are fifth but it’s early, just ten games into the season, and you can see there are many teams actually up there.
“It’s good to be up there, but there is still a long way to go, we need to keep working hard and keep making sure that we put in good performances week in and week out and see where we’re going to end up at the end of it.”

It’s good to see that players are as excited as fans about the return of supporters to stadia. Seeing empty seats must be a hollow existence when you’re used to performing in front of thousands week in, week out.
Whilst the Hammers have enjoyed a prosperous start without supporters, the influence of Irons faithful could inspire the side to even greater heights. Albeit only 2,000 for now, it is a step in the right direction towards full houses once again.
