West Ham co-owner David Gold has today confirmed planning approval has been permitted for the installation of a new statue at London Stadium.
Legendary Irons 1966 World Cup-winning trio Bobby Moore, Sir Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters will be honoured in statue form at the Stratford venue.
I am delighted to confirm that planning approval has now been confirmed for the installation of a new statue at London Stadium honouring our three greatest sons – Bobby Moore, Sir Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters – and our greatest triumph, the 1965 European cup winners victory. dg pic.twitter.com/R5itOqhPzd

The statue will celebrate the Hammers’ 1965 European Cup Winners’ Cup triumph and goes towards the club’s 125th anniversary celebrations.
Original plans for the statue were first unveiled in June when Gold confirmed it would be proudly erected outside the Bobby Moore Stand, subject to approval.
A similar statue of the famous trio already stands close to the Hammers’ former home Upton Park, where it will remain despite the new plans going ahead.
Unsurprisingly, many West Ham fans are elated with the “great news” of these legends being rightly recognised once more in a rare show of solidary with the club’s much-maligned owners:
