Spezia striker M’Bala Nzola has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with West Ham believed to be interested.
Fellow English top-flight clubs Newcastle United and Wolves have also been credited with a desire to sign the 24-year-old, but, his agent believes the time is not right to make the jump.
As reported by Tuttomercatoweb, the player’s representative Didier Pingsi has said: ”M’Bala (Nzola) must now consolidate his experience in Serie A. Then he’ll be ready for the five most important European championships: England, France, Spain, Germany and precisely Italy.”
Valued by Transfermarkt at just £810,000, Nzola has made a bright start to the 2020/21 campaign, scoring twice and providing one assist in his opening four games.
Promoted to the Italian top tier for the first time in their history, Spezia have made a steady start to the new season, and their coach Vincenzo Italiano praised his French forward this week by saying that “he’s very important for us”.
Capable of playing anywhere across the front line, Nzola was an instrumental part of the promotion, chipping in with eight goals last season, including one in the play-offs.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
David Moyes is definitely short on centre-forwards in his squad, with only Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller as senior options in that role.
Antonio has a worrying injury record and is current sidelined, while Haller has struggled to recapture the form which earned him his £45m move to east London in the first place.
The centre-forward department is almost certainly an area Moyes should look to address, perhaps as soon as January. However, this latest update may put the Hammers off a move for Nzola and turn their attention elsewhere, perhaps back to Bournemouth’s Josh King.
