West Ham are interested in signing Istanbul Basaksehir right-back Junior Caicara and have already held talks with his representatives, according to an exclusive report from Sport Witness.
The 31-year-old is coming off the back of a famous title-winning season for Istanbul Basaksehir, but his contract with the Turkish side expires in 2021 and as such, he could be sold this summer.
The report indicates that Caicara is yet to decide whether to leave Istanbul or sign a new contract, but if he does not sign an extension, then the Turkish champions are likely to cash in on him rather than lose him for free in a year’s time.
West Brom, Real Betis and Zenit St. Petersberg have also shown an interest in the former Schalke man, so West Ham might face a battle if they do decide to make an official move for the Brazilian.

It’s clear that West Ham need to bring in a right-back this summer but whether it’s wise to sign a 31-year-old is certainly a question worth asking.
Given that West Ham are looking to rebuild what was an ageing squad, bringing in a veteran full-back seems to be illogical, but if David Moyes feels that he needs a few more older heads in his squad then that could be excused as long as his primary focus is to being in bright, young players.
