According to Bayern Munich legend Michael Rummenigge, Mario Gotze should consider joining a club like West Ham United this summer (Evening Standard), but the club’s fans are split on whether they want him or not.
The 27-year-old has had many niggling injury and fitness issues in recent years, which has seen his form and playing time drop massively.
The German international is struggling to hold down a starting role for the club this season, with youngsters like Jadon Sancho and Julian Brandt above him in the pecking order.
Gotze, who scored the famous World Cup-winning goal against Argentina in 2014, has only played 501 minutes in the Bundesliga this season (Transfermarkt).
Gotze earns €191,731 per week at Dortmund (Capology) but his current deal with the club expires at the end of June, meaning he will be available to sign for free during the summer transfer window if he is not handed a contract extension.
Some Hammers fans on Twitter want the club to sign him, whilst others aren’t so keen.
