Fabianski contract situation could lead West Ham to pursue Sa

As reported on Claret and Hugh, West Ham United have made no offer to extend Lukasz Fabianski’s contract yet and we feel the club could turn to Jose Sa in the next transfer window.

Fabianski’s current deal is scheduled to expire at the end of next season but it is understood that the club has an option to extend that by a further year.

However, as stated in the report, the Hammers have not made any advances yet and coincidentally, have been linked with Olympiakos shot-stopper Sa recently, via Greek outlet SDNA.

The goalkeeper is also reportedly being watched closely by Premier League rivals Southampton.

Sa has been in great form for the Greek side, especially in the UEFA Europa League where he produced two solid displays against Arsenal to help dump them out of the competition.

However, we feel that keeping Fabianski until 2022 has to be a priority.

The Polish international has proven his credentials in recent seasons, making the most saves in the entire top-flight last season (PremierLeague.com).

Furthermore, he is adored by a huge chunk of the club’s fanbase, so offloading him could potentially upset a lot of fans, which is never a good thing to do.

However, we do believe that Sa could prove to be a good backup in case the Pole gets injured, which is something that has happened regularly this season.
