In October 2017, Angelo Ogbonna wrote his name into West Ham United’s history books, with many of the club’s fans reacting with delight as they relive his epic moment against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Carabao Cup clash against the London rivals was finely poised at 2-2 before the Italian centre-back headed in the winner with 20 minutes to go (BBC Sport).
The victory at Wembley Stadium sent the Hammers into the quarter-finals of the competition.
Ogbonna is still heavily involved for the Hammers at the moment, forming a strong partnership in defence with Issa Diop this season.
The defender has received plenty of praise for his recent displays and has cemented a starting role ahead of Fabian Balbuena under new manager David Moyes, who took over at the end of 2019.
West Ham’s official Twitter account has been reliving that match from 2017 and after tweeting about his winner, the club received plenty of excited responses from fans.
