Former Manchester City and Leeds United defender Danny Mills has urged Phil Jones to leave Manchester United and we feel this should please West Ham.
The Hammers have been linked with a £12m move for the Englishman, but face competition from fellow Premier League side Newcastle United.
As quoted on Football Insider, Mills said:
Phil Jones needs to get out of there and sign for a team like Newcastle. He needs a change.
It has never really happened for him at Manchester United. He has been there for a long time and has not really played an awful lot.
A player that needs a new challenge and a reset to get it going again.

Mills says a team like Newcastle would be great for Jones and West Ham fit that bill.
The two clubs can be considered to be similar in terms of size and fanbase, with both teams also hoping for better years ahead after recent relegation struggles.
Hammers fans should be pleased with Mills’ comments because it could offer them more encouragement to go and sign the centre-back after their recent links to him.
Jones undoubtedly has plenty of experience, shown by his 200 Premier League appearances, so he could be a valuable defensive addition at the London Stadium.
With Winston Reid injury prone and Fabian Balbuena seemingly out-of-favour, signing Jones could be exactly what the team needs.
