Plenty of clubs are showing their interest in West Ham United defender Issa Diop and we feel that this should concern manager David Moyes and the club’s fans.
As reported on Don Balon, Spanish duo FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are interested in the Frenchman, whilst fellow Premier League side Arsenal are also keen to secure his signature (The Mirror).
Diop has been a standout performer for the Hammers this season, scoring three times in 26 appearances across all competitions (Transfermarkt) and we feel the latest interest should definitely be a cause for concern.
Mainly because whenever teams like Barcelona and Atletico chase a player, they rarely lose out.
Both sides boast an incredible European pedigree and are some of the biggest clubs across the globe, so that could be an obvious attraction for Diop.
Furthermore, the chance of playing on the biggest stage, such as the UEFA Champions League, could entice the 23-year-old defender.
West Ham are struggling to survive in the Premier League and could drop down to the Championship and Diop may not be ready to compete in England’s second division when more attractive offers are out there.
It is an obvious worry because the Hammers could lose one of their best defenders even before he has reached his peak, which we feel will frustrate fans.
Diop arrived with a lot of pressure on his shoulders after the Hammers paid £22m for his services, but he is slowly starting to show why he was worth that much so we feel it would be a big blow if he was snatched away by another club.
