West Ham United manager David Moyes has revealed that the team will resume open-air training soon and this should excite fans.
As stated on the club’s website, the Rush Green training complex has undergone a deep clean over the last week, with players and staff members encouraged to remain at home due to the outbreak of the virus.
Moyes and certain members of his backroom staff were placed in isolation last week after they met with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who tested positive.
As quoted on the official club website, Moyes said:
We will be resuming open-air, drill-based sessions soon, with all necessary measures and precautions of course taken to ensure there is no risk to players’ health.
We believe that this admission should excite fans because it could show that things are slowly getting back to normal at the club. Players and staff have been separated for a week, meaning training schedules and player diets may have been affected.
It could also excite fans because it shows that the staff and players are ready to get back to work to ensure that their fitness levels don’t drop during the suspension of the Premier League, which is currently scheduled to return at the beginning of April (BBC Sport).
Many players have been working out individually during the past week but Moyes’ revelation could show that they’re ready to begin working as a team once again, which is good news.
