Ipswich Town manager Paul Lambert has admitted that his League One side could find it difficult to keep hold of midfielder Flynn Downes, as reported on TWTD.
The report reveals that the young midfielder has been scouted by numerous clubs, including West Ham United.
Lambert said:
Listen, it could well be. As I’ve said before if someone comes in with a helluva lot of money are we in a position to turn it down? No, we’re not.
In my opinion, he’s the best midfielder in the league.

Lambert’s comments are a massive boost for the Hammers as he has not ruled out a transfer for the 21-year-old, in fact, it looks like he’s almost inviting offers.
Downes has been one of the standout performers for Ipswich this season. Pplaying in central midfield, he has netted twice and provided two assists in all competitions (Transfermarkt), whilst also maintaining an 81.3% pass success rate this term (WhoScored).
We believe that the Englishman could be the ideal replacement for ageing captain Mark Noble.
Noble’s performances have dipped in recent months and many fans believe it is time for the skipper to be dropped.
Downes operates in a very similar position to Noble and with Ipswich seemingly ready to part with the player for the right price, we feel the Hammers should not hesitate in progressing negotiations over a potential deal.
