James Pearce, the Liverpool reporter for The Athletic, has claimed that he believes Jurgen Klopp could pursue West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell if the Hammers are relegated to the Championship.
The Hammers suffered defeat to the Reds on Monday night, with Sadio Mane scoring a late goal to maintain the Reds’ unbeaten league record.
Speaking in his post-match Q&A on The Athletic, Pearce revealed he believes that Cresswell could be the most likely player to join the Reds this summer if West Ham drop down to the second tier.
There aren’t many people I’d have. Maybe Cresswell as back up to Robertson.

It would be hard to see Cresswell in the Liverpool first-team, but he could turn out to be a solid backup option for Andy Robertson.
The defender has been ever-present for the Hammers this season, making 21 appearances for West Ham so far this campaign.
West Ham are in a perilous situation and face a difficult task to remain in the Premier League with a tough fixture list ahead of them.
However, if their league nightmare becomes a reality, the Hammers could do with a player like Cresswell in the Championship, in our opinion.
We feel that they simply couldn’t afford to lose too many players if they were to be relegated if they want to come back up next season.
Therefore, keeping the core of the squad could prove to be key, and Cresswell may be one of those players they need to keep despite a possible switch to Anfield.
