Fredericks has been everpresent for West Ham since his move from Fulham last summer, making 38 appearances for the Hammers.
The defender has scored two goals and has three assists in the process but he has come under a lot of criticism this season after some poor defensive play.
However, the infomration that he could be out for a long time is potentially bad news for the Hammers, as it means that David Moyes could be forced to rely soley on Pablo Zabaleta for the remainder of the campaign.
Zabaleta is now 35-years-old, and is nowhere near the player he was at Manchester City and looks like has lost a lot of the pace that he once possessed.
If this injury news is confirmed, and there’s little reason to doubt it, then West Ham’s task of avoiding relegation has just gotten that bit more difficult.
