Former West Ham striker Carlton Cole has revealed to Sky Sports that he believes that the Hammers clash with Tottenham Hotspur could be crucial for their survival in the top flight.
After a dismal run in the league, the Hammers have found themselves in the bottom three, with David Moyes’ side without a win since beating Bournemouth on New Year’s Day.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Cole said:
You’ve seen the run-up we’ve got coming up, but I think the Spurs game might turn it around for us.
The Spurs game is always a cup final. We’ll look at Southampton at home definitely. The Spurs game, if we can turn it on for that game, we’ll be in and around it.
I really think it will go down to the last game of the season at Aston Villa.
We’ve got Liverpool in the next game on Monday, that’s going to be hard and a bit similar to the Man City game when you’re trying to keep the scores low to go on for the next game after that which I think is winnable.

Cole is right in that if West Ham can get some results, then it blows the relegation battle wide open.
There are only a couple of points in between all the sides in the relegation fight, meaning that practically all of West Ham’s remaining games will be huge for their survival bid.
The game at Spurs is no different and is one that offers a different prospect due to the rivalry between the two teams.
The striker also has a point that the relegation battle isn’t over yet, with that clash with Aston Villa on the final day looking like a big match for both sides.
But, West Ham will know that they will have to pick up some results, and fast, if they are to have any chance of survival.
