West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen could be in line to make his debut for the Hammers tonight, but comments from David Moyes have put this in doubt.
Speaking ahead of the clash with Manchester City, West Ham boss Moyes revealed to the club’s official website that he is taking his time with the wide man and that he does not want to rush him into the team.
Bowen joined on transfer deadline day for a fee of over £20 million from the Tigers but joined too late to make his debut against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Moyes highlighted the player’s lack of Premier League experience as a factor in this, with Bowen only just making the move from the Championship.
The Scot said:
But I am also wary of putting the boys in too quickly. I have had lots of boys from the Championship in the past and I think it’s important that you put them in at the right time, the right moments, and we will just take our time and see when it’s right for Jarrod.
Obviously, he is a talent. We need goals, he can do that. I am also very aware that we don’t need to put pressure on him too quickly.
This angered several West Ham fans on Twitter, with one even calling the West Ham boss “clueless” for his comments about potentially not starting Bowen against Man City on Wednesday evening.
