David Moyes must back up his recent words with actions

West Ham face a huge task on Wednesday evening, with the Hammers taking on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The Hammers will face City in the rearranged fixture, after the original game was called off due to Storm Ciara.

But West Ham could do with a win in the North West, with the Hammers in a difficult situation.

West Ham sit in the bottom three and are without a league win since New Year’s Day after a dismal run of form under new boss David Moyes.

Speaking ahead of the game, Moyes revealed that he believes that the Hammers can easily climb up the table, and that good results are coming for the Irons.

I’ve been really pleased with the application of the players since I came in. I think the players have been spot on, I really do. It’s not for the want of trying, it’s not for their effort that they are putting in at this present time. I have been really impressed by how they’ve gone about it.

What we need to improve on is the quality, our results, our performances, and more importantly than anything, we have to win.

I’m more than confident we will climb the table. I think the players here are more than capable. I think we have got a good group. I think they are all fully aware of the situation we’re in and the improvement we need to make to make sure we’re not in the bottom three, and I’m sure come the end we will do.

Saying this is all well and good, but Moyes will have to make sure his words are backed up by the play on the pitch as soon as possible, as time is running out.

West Ham’s form has not changed that much since Moyes was appointed, with the dismal form that saw Manuel Pellegrini sacked continuing under Moyes’ guidance.

Despite saying he was a “winner” when he was appointed, West Ham have still only won one game since he arrived, not including the FA Cup win over Gillingham.

Therefore, change is very much needed at the Hammers.

There are some quality players at West Ham, such as Felipe Anderson, who have really not performed well this season, with the Brazilian only notching one goal so far this season.

New signing Jarrod Bowen, we feel, has the potential to bring some goals and attacking flair to the Hammers attack, but if things go wrong, the blame will surely fall on Moyes.

Therefore, we feel the Scot really needs to spark something in his side to get them out of the mess they are in, especially with their tough run of fixtures starting this evening.
