West Ham have been handed a boost for their clash with Manchester City, with David Moyes confirming that Felipe Anderson could be fit for the clash.
The Hammers face City in a rearranged fixture after the original tie was postponed due to Storm Ciara making conditions unsafe outside the Etihad Stadium.
There have been no official pre-match press conferences ahead of the tie, so David Moyes spoke to West Ham’s official website ahead of the clash.
Moyes confirmed that Felipe Anderson has recovered a lot more since the date of the original clash, and that he could be in line for a return on Wednesday evening.
Team news-wise, we are good. Hopefully we will have a few more back from injury and we are looking a bit stronger than we were certainly in recent weeks.
Felipe Anderson is back around training and he’s been on the pitch so he’s back closer to fitness and hopefully he will be close to being able to start. I’ve not actually decided yet if I am going to put him in the squad but I will look to see. He wasn’t in the squad when we were travelling up to Manchester a week or so ago. He’s had a few more days training and I will see how he is just before we go to Manchester.
Andriy Yarmolenko is still in a recovery process with his training. He’s back on the grass but doing better.
Read West Ham’s verdict
This is big news for West Ham, with Felipe Anderson being a key player for the Hammers last season with nine goals and four assists.
However, this term, he has struggled to get going, picking up only the one goal so far.
Therefore, the Brazilian will need to step up his game in the coming fixtures, especially with trips to the Etihad and Anfield.
He got David Moyes’ spell at the Hammers off to the perfect start, but the Brazilian will have to kick on if West Ham are to stay up.
