Danny Mills claims Declan Rice will leave West Ham if they are relegated

Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills has claimed that Declan Rice will leave West Ham if the Hammers suffer relegation to the Championship.

Speaking to Football Insider, Mills revealed that he believes that Rice could depart the club, with other sides looking to pay big money to land the academy graduate.

The Hammers are in a perilous situation at the minute, sitting in the bottom three, without a win since New Year’s Day.

Mills revealed to Football Insider that this could lead to Rice departing West Ham this summer.

They’re also realistic, because you have to think that if they go down, there’s going to be a huge issue financially for them.

Does he want to be fighting relegation battles, season in, season out? Probably not.

Again it’s big big money, and it’s very very difficult to turn down at times.

He might want to go. He might be thinking ‘I want to start playing Champions League, enhance my international career’.

I wouldn’t be surprised, if there’s a huge fee that comes in for him, that he’s allowed to go.

Mills has a point here, with Rice likelt to be one of the first players to leave if West Ham go down to the Championship.

As an England international, and with clubs such as Manchester United looking to move for him, Rice would probably not stay at the club if West Ham were to go down

England boss Southgate has spoken about the fact he wants his players at ‘top clubs’, and, if West Ham go down, he would likey want Rice back in the Premier League.

With David Moyes also admitting that the player would go if the Hammers were to go down, it seems to be the most likely prospect if West Ham don’t beat the drop.
