West Ham United could be eyeing a second midfield signing of the winter transfer window if reports coming out of France are to be believed.
According to FootMercato, the Hammers are in ‘advanced negotiations’ to sign Celtic ace Olivier Ntcham this month.
The report claims after being pursued by Lyon and Marseille last summer, he could make his return to England before his contract runs out next year.
GFFN have followed it up by confirming sources they’ve reached out to have revealed West Ham are in fact in talks for the 23-year-old.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Ntcham has made 108 appearances since joining Celtic from Genoa in 2017, scoring 17 goals and making nine assists.
The Frenchman certainly knows how to win things; clinching two Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups and three Betfred Cups.
It would be interesting to see how David Moyes would fit Ntcham into his system; he’s primarily featured in attacking midfield this season and isn’t accustomed to a defensive role.
I believe, because this story has risen from nowhere and multiple outlets are jumping on it, there could be some truth here and West Ham are probably pursuing another midfield.
Whether the Hammers have left it too late to complete a deal this month, with Celtic’s need for a replacement in mind, remains to be seen.
