West Ham have seen an offer for RB Salzburg right-back Rasmus Kristensen rejected as they search for a final signing in the winter transfer window.
David Moyes revealed in his press conference yesterday that a ‘firm bid’ had been submitted for a mystery target.
According to Claret & Hugh, the Denmark Under-21 international is that target but the Hammers have been pushed back in their late pursuit.
The report claims West Ham have made multiple enquiries about a number of right-backs ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Aged just 22, Kristensen already has top-level experience under his belt, winning the Eredivisie with Ajax last season.
He then joined Salzburg in a transfer worth €5million last summer and featured in each of their six Champions League games this term.
In European competition, he averaged 3.3 tackles and 3.2 clearances per game in 533 minutes.
Ryan Fredericks, on the other hand, has averaged 3.2 tackles but just 2.1 clearances per game in 1538 minutes of Premier League football this term.
I believe the jury is well and truly still out on whether the 27-year-old is good enough to be a regular starter for West Ham.
He almost certainly needs competition regardless, with Pablo Zabaleta nearing the end of his stint at the club and Fredericks’ own injury problems arising.
Overall, I think Kristensen would pose as a good signing for West Ham, however, their interest has probably been registered too late.
