West Ham are well and truly in the hunt to beat Chelsea and Spurs to sign AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek, who seems destined to move on this month.
According to Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones, West Ham are in the race to sign Piatek and lots of talks surrounding the striker’s future are taking place today.
According to Sky Italy though, Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin are edging closer to agreeing on a deal with Milan to take him to the German capital.
The report states that representatives have arrived in Italy to discuss a deal worth €27million and Piatek said to be happy to become a Hertha player.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
Some could say that’s luck but to me, it shows just how much of an elite young striker he still is and it’d be a shame to see him go elsewhere without testing Milan’s resolve.
I believe there are other areas needing priority, but Sebastien Haller is crying out for an upper-tier strike partner like he had with Luka Jovic at Eintracht Frankfurt.
West Ham could still move for Piatek before it’s too late but it’s probably unlikely now, however, I would expect there to be some activity on the striker front in the summer.
That’s emphasised by the fact Haller is this season’s top goalscorer with six goals and Mark Noble is in second place with four.
