West Ham could soon be handed the breakthrough they’ve been waiting for in their pursuit of Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes.
According to Sky Sports, the Hammers have made a revised offer for the 21-year-old, with Benfica officials set to meet on Thursday to go over the conditions of Fernandes’ proposed London Stadium switch.

Benfica are reportedly leaning towards agreeing to a deal, as they feel the midfielder will get regular first-team opportunities, therefore maintaining his value.
The report doesn’t reveal specific details regarding the new bid, but it does suggest that Chelsea made a late 18-month loan offer with an obligation to buy for £55m.
Manchester United have also shown an interest in the Portuguese youngster this month, but it seems as if he could be linking up with new West Ham boss David Moyes.

Fernandes’ versatility in midfield along with his impressive first full season with Benfica appears to be what’s caught West Ham’s eye.
The youngster, as per a report from Sky Sports, played either side of central midfield last season but has been used as an attacking right midfielder this term.
They claim his key attributes include the ability to dribble past defenders and drawing regular fouls, while also being happy to do the defensive work when needed.
He’s only turned out in 216 minutes of league action this season, via Whoscored.com, and with the Hammers so keen on his services, you’d expect him to be a regular in Moyes’ side should he complete a move.
If he joined, the Portugal international would give Moyes the option to deploy him in several areas in the middle of the park, which could turn out to be priceless during the second half of the campaign.
