Darren Randolph’s West Ham United return has grown ever-closer this afternoon, with the goalkeeper heading to East London for his medical.
Sky Sports News have confirmed a £4million fee has been agreed with Middlesbrough to make Randolph the club’s first January signing.
The 32-year-old will also be David Moyes’ first recruit since taking over at the London Stadium for a second time.
Since leaving West Ham for a £5million move to Middlesbrough in 2017, Randolph has established himself as one of the Championship’s best stoppers.
He’s made 106 appearances in England’s second division and will return to the Hammers ready to challenge Lukasz Fabianski for the no. 1 shirt.
West Ham have had a goalkeeping nightmare this season, with summer signings Roberto and David Martin failing to provide suitable back-up after the Pole suffered a long-term injury in September.
Fabianski’s absence contributed to the club’s campaign spiralling into disaster, but now Moyes is set to have two strong options at his disposal.
