Several West Ham supporters have hit out at Manuel Pellegrini after he backed Roberto Jimenez ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Tottenham.
The 33-year-old has started the last five Premier League fixtures for the Hammers following Lukasz Fabianksi’s injury and has conceded 11 goals during that time.
West Ham are winless in six league fixtures and welcome Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham in the early weekend kick off.
Talking in his pre-match press conference, Pellegrini appeared to back the Spanish shot-stopper.
Every player when they are in a bad moment needs the confidence of us behind them.
Roberto has a lot of experience in a lot of countries. He knows it’s not his best performance in the last game.
Pellegrini’s comments were shared by @COYIrons_com, and these fans were quick to react, urging the boss to leave Roberto out.

Read West Ham verdict
Both sides are in woeful form, but following Mourinho’s arrival, the Hammers could be on the back foot for the majority of the game.
The new manager effect tends to be positive in the Premier League, so if this is the case, West Ham’s goalkeeper could be very busy.
We expect Roberto to keep his place in the starting line up, but he desperately needs to put in a solid performance.
If he fails to do so, the calls for Martin to come in for the Spaniard will only intensify.
