Man City fans play down potential Rice move after learning £100m price tag

Both Manchester City and Manchester United have been linked with a move for Declan Rice in recent weeks, and after the Hammers named their price for the Englishman, it appears as if City fans don’t want the club to take their interest any further.

The 20-year-old has been one of Manuel Pellegrini’s key men over the past 12 months and is yet to miss a minute of Premier League action this season.

His impressive performances have caught the eye, resulting in West Ham placing a British record £100 million price tag for his services, according to the Daily Express

The news quickly reached these City supporters, who were adamant that Pep Guardiola shouldn’t make a move for the holding midfielder, especially after signing Rodri over the summer.

In today’s market, it’s hard to argue against the Hammers’ decision to place the £100 million asking price on Rice’s shoulders.

He’s consistently performed in the most demanding league in the world over the past 12 months, which has resulted in international recognition.

It’s easy to forget that Rice is still just 20 years of age and has four years left on his current West Ham deal, so we think the price tag is reasonable.

It’ll be interesting to see if either City or United decided to firm up their interest in the new year, but by the looks of it, City fans don’t want the midfielder at the Etihad, which will be music to both Pellegrini and the West Ham faithful.
