Most Premier League supporters would be delighted to be pitted against a League Two club in cup competition, but not those of West Ham United. In fact, the reaction is the complete opposite.
The Hammers will travel to Rodney Parade to face Newport County in the Carabao Cup second round in what should really be a straight forward test for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
However, the negative atmosphere following that crushing 4-2 FA Cup fourth-round defeat at AFC Wimbledon last season seems to have stuck with fans, who weren’t pleased with the draw.

I believe those fans taking to social media to express their concern for the draw are secretly very happy with that outcome.
A good run in the cups should be a priority for West Ham this season, and they should have too much quality for Newport.
You’d hope the likes of Goncalo Cardoso, Ben Johnson and Albian Ajeti are given a chance, as well as other stars fans will be expecting to make an impact.
