West Ham look set to miss out on reported transfer target Ozan Kabak, with the defender set to sign with Schalke, according to GIFN.
The Turkey youth international was name checked as a key transfer target for the Hammers this summer, with the centre-back reportedly costing just £13million thanks to a release clause in his contract.
Currently with Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart who he signed for in January, Kabak’s performances in the last six months had seen his stock dramatically rise, inspiring interest from a number of clubs last season.

As well as West Ham, other interested clubs included AC Milan and Bayern Munich, the latter of whom was reportedly rejected for Schalke this month.
Kabak is the another defensive reinforcement made this week by Schalke boss David Wagner, formerly of Huddersfield Town, after he brought Everton full-back Jonjoe Kenny to Gelsenkirchen on a loan deal.
Despite West Ham likely feeling frustrated at having missed out on Kabak, Manuel Pellegrini shouldn’t lose too much sleep, with the Hammers still possessing a strong defensive quartet with Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena, Angelo Ogbonna and Winston Reid.
