Newcastle United are said to be preparing a move for West Ham’s under-performing forward Lucas Perez.
The 30-year-old joined the Hammers from Arsenal ahead of the 2018/19 campaign for what was seen as a bargain price of £4.5 million.
However, he failed to nail down a place in the side with Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez and Michail Antonio preferred ahead of him.
Perez scored six goals in 19 appearances in all competitions last season, but just three of those goals came in the Premier League, and only two of them were scored this calendar year.

But, according to Spanish outlet Marca, cited by talkSPORT, his disappointing displays have not put off Magpies boss Rafa Benitez, who is reported to be interested in taking his compatriot to St James’ Park as he looks to bolster his attacking options.
The North East side lost Salomon Rondon following the conclusion of the Premier League as his loan deal from West Bromwich Albion expired, and Benitez may be forced to consider other targets until their prospective takeover goes through.
