West Ham are set to step up their interest in Chilean midfielder Gary Medel, according to reports in Turkey.
As per claims made by Milliyet, as cited on Sport Witness, the Hammers will step up their interest after learning Besiktas would be open to selling the midfielder.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side were credited with an interest in the ex-Cardiff City man earlier this week and a potential deal appears to be gathering momentum.
The report states that a £5 million offer could be made in the coming days, with the Hammers looking to wrap up a January deal.
Besiktas reportedly need to raise funds in the new year and Medel could be the man to help them do just that, providing West Ham meet their valuation.
Medel is said to be eager to return to the Premier League after his short stint with Cardiff did not quite work out.
