Samir Nasri needs to be given time to prove his worth to West Ham, according to Pablo Zabaleta.
Speaking about the free agent and his former Manchester City team-mate, as reported by the London Evening Standard, Zabaleta explained what the Frenchman must do in order to earn a deal at West Ham.
Manuel knows Samir very well from his time at Manchester City. We need players with his quality, especially because also we lost two key players — Manuel Lanzini in the summer before the World Cup and then [Jack] Wilshere, who is very close to coming back to the team.
Samir needs a bit of time, though. He has not been football training for more than a year. He is technically very good, so he probably needs to focus more on his fitness levels than his passing.
The former City star has been training with the London club in a bid to earn a deal back in the Premier League.
Nasri has been out of the game for some time following a drugs ban, but he is now aiming for a Premier League return.
A host of clubs, including Everton, have been linked with Nasri but it seems that Manuel Pellegrini is keen to bring in one of his former players.
With West Ham losing Manuel Lanzini to a long-term injury, Nasri could be the ideal replacement for the Argentine as he continues his recovery.
