Manchester City should be looking to sign West Ham youngster Declan Rice, according to former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp.
Writing for the Daily Mail, as cited on the London Evening Standard, Redknapp explains why the versatile Hammers man could be the ideal replacement for the ageing Fernandinho.
Rice has all the hallmarks of Fernandinho, the anchorman of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City midfield. The Brazilian is still performing at the peak of his powers but given he is 33, City will be on the lookout for a long-term replacement. I would not be surprised if Rice is already on their radar, and plays against them in West Ham’s next home game.

The Premier League champions remain in the market for a long-term replacement for the Brazilian after missing out on Jorginho over the summer.
Pep Guardiola believed that City were set to sign the Italian midfielder, only for him to join Chelsea at the last minute.
The deal left City scrambling in the market and they are yet to sign a player they believe could fill the void Fernandinho will leave.
There are growing concerns at West Ham surrounding Rice’s future at the club.
He is yet to sign a new contract at the club and some of the Premier League big boys are keeping close tabs on his situation.
