West Ham are interested in a deal to sign Santiago Arias from Atletico Madrid, according to a report from talkSPORT.
It’s claimed that the Hammers had established an interest in signing Arias during the summer transfer window, only for the Colombian international to be snapped up by Atletico Madrid.
The right-back has since struggled to secure regular game time under Diego Simeone following his move from PSV Eindhoven.

Arias, 26, has largely found himself behind Sime Vrsaljko in the pecking order of right-backs at Atletico, with the summer recruit making only two substitute appearances in La Liga so far this term.
West Ham are not alone in their interest in Arias, however. It’s reported by Corriere dello Sport, as cited in talkSPORT‘s recent claims, that Napoli are also keen to land Arias.
The defender was signed by Atletico for a fee believed to be in the region of £11 million. Despite West Ham having Pablo Zabaleta and Ryan Fredericks at their disposal already, it seems the right-back is on Manuel Pellegrin’s January wish list.
