West Ham have been on a scouting in mission in Serie A, according to reports in Italy.
According to Calciomercato, West Ham, Chelsea and Everton all had scouts watching the recent game between Cagliari and Sampdoria.
One player who they may have been keeping close tabs on is Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella, who has emerged as a target for Liverpool and Chelsea in recent weeks.
The young midfielder is valued at around €40 million by the Italian club and he is certainly one of the more in-demand players in Serie A at the moment.

Liverpool are among the favourites to sign the player should he leave Italy, but both Milan clubs have also been interested in the past.
The report does not confirm that it was Barella that the clubs were keeping an eye on, but there is a very high possibility that he could have been in their sights as interest in the player begins to mount.
