Carlos Sanchez could be set for a long spell on the sidelines after suffering suspected medial ligament damage against Macclesfield.
The Mirror report that the injury is worse than first feared after the midfielder was forced off inside the first half against the League Two side on Wednesday night.
The Colombian was considered as a doubt this weekend’s game against Manchester United, but it now appears that the club could be without him for much longer.
With just nine minutes on the clock, West Ham were forced to call upon Declan Rice to replace the injured midfielder, as the Hammers put eight goals past their visitors in the Carabao Cup.
West Ham themselves are yet to confirm the severity of the injury, but it does not look like good news for Manuel Pellegrini’s men.
Sanchez only joined the club this summer in a £4 million from Fiorentina.
His arrival at the club came as a suprise after a mixed spell at Aston Villa
