Antonio confident he can get back to his best

West Ham United winger Michail Antonio is confident that he can soon get back to playing his best football after spending the last 12 months struggling with injuries, Football.London reports.

The 28-year-old made the move from Championship Side Nottingham Forest back in 2015 and was instantly a hit with Hammers fans following a series of standout performances.

However Antonio only made 21 appearances last season after struggling with his fitness.

Antonio started in the 4-0 defeat at Liverpool on the opening weekend of the season but was then dropped for the Bournemouth game, returning to the starting XI against both Arsenal and Wolves.

The winger is now hoping to be selected for the Hammers’ game against Everton at the weekend and is confident that he can return to his best sooner rather than later.

Antonio spoke to the club’s official website.

I am determined to get back to the form I showed in my first two seasons here.

I think I proved myself during that time but at the end of the 2016/17 season I got injured, then I got more injuries through the whole of last season, so it’s about getting myself back and getting my fitness and going on from there.

I’m feeling very good, to be honest.

Being a full part of the pre-season this summer definitely really helped my fitness and I’m feeling ready to go.
