West Ham have found themselves caught up in a bizarre situation with their fan base, one that could see them face punishment for breaching data protection laws.
Unconfirmed claims being made on social media suggest that in an attempt to reach their fans to inform them of ticket details for the upcoming fixture against AFC Wimbledon, the club shared the email addresses of every fan who has purchased a ticket by copying them into the same message.
Twitter: West Ham’s email to away season ticket holders confirming their ticket for Wimbledon has cc’d in every single perso… https://t.co/OI8rSXMgs0 (@JackLebeau66)
The mistake will have made a large number of email addresses available for public viewing among fellow fans.
The claims are the latest in a string of events that has left fans questioning the club’s board, who have been very public in the past.
As of yet, West Ham have not commented on these claims.
