Italian side Sampdoria are reported to be confident of landing West Ham’s Pedro Obiang on a permanent transfer reports Lucas Sposito of Sportswitness.co.uk and Italian newspaper Tuttosport.
It hasn’t been easy for the Italian side to get the midfielder, and that’s what newspaper Tuttosport explains today. They say that West Ham have been demanding €12m for Obiang, while Sampdoria don’t want to pay more than €9m or €10m.
Obiang’s wish is reportedly to return to Italy but the €2m difference between the two clubs seems to be the stumbling block that’s stopping that from happening for the time being.
The report claims that it is likely a deal will be completed, with Obiang to join the side after their pre-season is complete.
There are repeated claims from the Italian media that the Hammers keep bumping the price of the Spanish midfielder.
Obaing signed for the Hammers back in 2015, from Sampdoria. He made a total of 21 appearances for West Ham in all competitions last season, scoring his first home goal in claret and blue in a 2-0 win over Huddersfield.
With the signing of Jack Wilshire on a free from Arsenal, Obiang seems to have slipped down the pecking order at the London Stadium and a move away could be his best chance of playing regular first-team football.
