Borussia Monchengladbach appear to be leading West Ham in the race to sign OGC Nice striker Alassane Plea this summer.
The Hammers are understood to have identified Plea as a genuine target as Manuel Pellegrini looks to add extra firepower to his attacking options at the London Stadium.
It’s believed that West Ham submitted a club-record bid to sign Plea from Nice but according to claims from Germany, the club trail Monchengladbach in their efforts to sign the player.

According to a report from Kicker, Monchengladbach already have a deal in principle with Nice to sign Plea this summer, with the Bundesliga outfit looking to add attacking quality to the ranks.
West Ham, along with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, are reportedly keen to sign Plea from Nice, but it seems the player is edging ever closer to a switch to Germany.
Kicker also indicate that Monchengladbach is Plea’s preferred destination as he pushes for an exit from Nice.
