West Ham have reportedly lodged a bid to sign Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid this summer.
According to reports from TMW, the Hammers are leading the race to sign the Croatian midfielder, who has made it clear he would like to leave the Spanish giants.
The player has spoken of his desire to move on as he goes in search of regular game time after starting only 10 times in La Liga last season.

Kovacic has also drawn links to the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham in the past, but it is yet to be seen if they will move for the player.
There is also thought to be interest from Italian sides Juventus, Roma and Napoli.
A deal to sign Kovacic would certainly be something of a coup for Manuel Pellegrini’s men, with the new Hammers boss looking to bring in some fresh faces over the summer.
