West Ham United have missed out on the signing AZ Alkmaar striker Wout Weghorst, who has joined Wolfsburg, the Bundesliga side have confirmed.
According to rtv Oost, the Premier League side had been touted as a possible destination for the 18-goal forward.
Weghorst, who only joined AZ back in the summer of 2016, was attracting interest from the Bundesliga after an impressive season and Wolfsburg have won the race to sign him.
The Bundesliga side have been looking to strengthen over the summer to avoid another relegation battle in the new season.

Previous reports have also suggested clubs from Spain were keen on signing him.
Weghorst hit the headlines with a free-scoring campaign, where he also became a Dutch international and he is now ready to take the next step in his career.
At West Ham there are concerns over the immediate future of Andy Carroll beyond this summer and Weghorst could have been seen as a direct replacement for the former Newcastle striker.
