West Ham star Manuel Lanzini will miss the duration of the 2018/19 season with a knee injury, according to a report from the Mirror.
The playmaker suffered the serious injury in training with the Argentina national team as they geared up for this summer’s World Cup. Lanzini was therefore ruled out of the tournament and it seems his injury is set to be a long-term one.
It’s claimed by the Mirror that they have been informed of the severity of Lanzini’s knee problem, with sources indicating that the injury is a ‘cruciate plus’, meaning he will miss a huge period of action.

West Ham have been planning for next season with Lanzini’s absence in mind, with an ongoing pursuit of Lazio star Felipe Anderson having been well documented in recent weeks.
The news of Lanzini’s heartbreak is sure to come as a huge blow for Manuel Pellegrini, however, as the Argentine playmaker prepares for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
